The River
The River meets every Friday night from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Church at the Gate, 6820 W. 26th St.
The River was created by three guys who wanted to see a generation of young adults after the heart of God. It was their desire that rather than be in the bars on a Friday night, people would want to come and find Christ and grow and fellowship together. These guys began to reach out to people they knew and didn't know and the River took shape. This heartbeat still remains the same at the River today.
It is our desire in 2009 and the years ahead that the River to be a generation after the heart of God. We believe that transformation will take place when young adults seek and find this kind of relationship with God. It is also our desire to develop a covenant community--a community that is not seeking what it may consume or take, but what it can accomplish together. This community grows together, prays together and finds change in their lives, relationships and community.
On Friday nights, you will find us all together for heartfelt worship and relevant messages that go beyond the mentality of church. You will also have the opportunity to break out into various activities. Each week you may choose to join several different types of groups--recreation, discipleship, outreach, or a going deeper in the Word and knowledge of God elective. Then it's all back together for coffee, hot chocolate, chill out, eat and continue to have a great time. And, we'll be giving away free stuff!
Elective activities at the River:
- Recreation: basketball, volleyball, dodge ball, open gym
- Discipleship: Alpha Course
- Go Deeper: Omega Course
