Steve Hickey, Senior Pastor Pastor Steve and family moved to Sioux Falls in 1994 with the idea of starting an aggressive church-planting church. Out of that vision and call has come Church at the Gate with its various ministries and daughter churches. His vision is to facilitate a regional church-planting movement seeing lots and lots of local life-giving churches pop up all over our city and beyond—a vision reflected in his doctoral program. Most recently he authored Obtainable Destiny based on 1, 2 Timothy & Titus (Creation House Press, 2004). Pastor Steve also serves as the SD State Coordinator for the United States Strategic Prayer Network. He and Kristen have three children—Caleb and Thomas attend Lincoln High School, Kaitlyn attends Patrick Henry Middle School. family photo blog |

Dennis White, Associate Pastor Dennis serves Church at the Gate in various areas. He heads up Pastoral Care to the growing congregation by visiting those in the hospital, making home visits and doing pre-marital/marriage counseling. Dennis serves in an administrative capacity assisting Pastor Steve and Julie Westendorf in the Office. He is one of the teaching pastors on staff giving particular attention to Cleansing Stream and Cleansing Discipleship, a training program of Deliverance Ministry. Dennis enjoys spending time with his five children and eleven grandchildren, golfing and in free time, antiques. His son Lance, daughter-in-law Sarah and their three children, (Eden, Corbyn, and Donovan) attend Church at the Gate. |

Jim Brown, North Campus Pastor Jim Brown is the North Campus pastor. Jim also works in the north, as an Account Manager for Revonet Inc. and has a heart to see a life-giving mission outpost established in this part of town. Jim and family have been an integral part of the ministry team at Church at the Gate for the past four years. He is a strong leader with a tenacious never-quit attitude, a good communicator and teacher, a passionate worship leader and prayer warrior. His wife Tara is the Director of Children's Ministry at Church at the Gate and both Jim and Tara serve tirelessly to reach kids. He has BA in Music Education from Mount Marty College. Jim and Tara have three kids; Noah, Jazmine & Chloe. |

Kathy Ferguson, Worship Ministries Director Kathy plans and leads worship for all services and is the director of Adult and children's choirs. She also oversees all others areas of worship, including drama and technical production. She loves seeing people get involved in the church using their God-given gifts through service by creating an atmosphere, which allows all to experience worship with our Creator. Kathy is married to Bret and they have four children, Dustin, Trevor, Graham and Ashton. She loves spending time with her family, loves to bake and enjoys all kinds of music. visit the worship ministry page |

Tara Brown, Children's Ministries Director Tara oversees Go Kids! Children's Ministries. This includes preparing teams to teach the Saturday night service, Sunday Morning Children's Church for both services and Wednesday night Go Kids! Midweek. Tara also directs Go Kids! Daycare & Learning Center at the church, which is available weekdays from 6:30AM-6:00PM. Tara is married to Jim and has 3 children Noah, Jazmine & Chloe. Tara enjoys launching children to be leaders for Christ, and leading them to know & love Jesus in a deep and personal way. Tara also enjoys building and blessing children's leaders and giving them the tools to then build and bless "the least of these" in the Kingdom. visit the children page visit the daycare page blog |

Kristen Hickey, Prayer Coordinator Helping Church at the Gate to continue to become a Spirit-led, worship-fed house of prayer is Kristen's heart's desire. "Prayer is a big part of the life of this church. We believe that prayer can change lives, so we want to motivate and encourage people to learn to pray and see God's hand in their answered prayers." Kristen's responsibilities include mobilizing prayer groups, teaching, and helping prayerful people and leadership to find resources that will motivate and encourage prayer in every aspect of church life. Julie Westendorf, Administration Assistant Julie oversees all activities of the church office. Monthly newsletter, weekly bulletin, flyers, church directory, prayer requests, and welcome letters to visitors—Julie is the go-to girl. As the Administrative Assistant to Pastor Steve, Julie is the first person you will talk to when you call the church office and she is normally the one to answer your questions on schedules, programs and other church-related business. Julie is married to Bob and has one daughter, Kirsten and one step-daughter, Kira. Julie enjoys reading, music, and playing with her dog Toby. Top |
